In her day, the Nicholson 38 was considered a superior yacht. In a comparative test between motor sailors, she came first in the "especially sailing vessel" category, and she was praised for the high quality of her workmanship. 134 Nicholson 38s were built, the last in 1976. Then production was discontinued because it had become too expensive to build yachts of such quality where competitors were coming to market with cheaper alternatives. Camper&Nicholson did not want to lower the quality to meet market demand. The Nicholson 38 is a kit rigged yacht. She has a covered and very sheltered center cockpit. She has sleeping accommodation for 4 people divided between the aft cabin and the forward cabin.
The Yanmar engine was installed around 1996, starts and runs fine. The boat needs some love, mainly painting.
